Capstone Launches PebbleGo Next: Social Studies
Research Database Connects to Social Studies Content
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – August 16, 2017 – Capstone, a leading publisher of children’s books and digital products and services, announces the launch of its newest database module, PebbleGo Next: Social Studies. Introducing social studies content targeted to grades 3-5 curriculum, the new module joins the previously released databases PebbleGo Next: Science and PebbleGo Next: States and American Indians.
PebbleGo Next: Social Studies features 150 articles aligned with national curriculum standards for social studies. The module’s robust content explores: Culture (community and self, examining world cultures, and global issues), Economics, Fields of Study, Geography (continents, U.S. landforms, and individual articles on state capitals, reading maps, and natural and human-made boundaries), Technology and Society (global communication, media literacy, and the history of technology), and the United States (government, U.S. history, landmarks, and symbols). The module includes an activity to explore in each subcategory, as well as a video and critical thinking prompts for each article.
“We’re excited to officially release the newest member of our PebbleGo Next family of databases. With longer, information-rich text, this is the database students have been waiting for to extend their social studies research. From exploring U.S. history and world cultures to bullying and internet safety, our database’s content is carefully correlated to social studies curriculum standards and is a valuable resource for schools,” said Matt Keller, Capstone Chief Marketing Officer.
PebbleGo Next includes expertly leveled text with read-aloud audio recorded by professional voice over artists to provide essential scaffolds to make content accessible for all learners. PebbleGo Next incorporates a streamlined interface, animated highlighting, educational videos and games, and encompassing activities that teach students how to cite articles, create reports, and share what they’ve learned. The database is available over the Internet 24/7 as an annual subscription for enrolled students.
